s&w ar10 review

S&w Ar10 Review - For some of us, the catchphrase is “sometimes you need a .308”. The .223/5.56mm platform is a wonderful close-range combat system and can be accurate at longer ranges. However, some tasks simply lack the necessary clout. There are shooters who hunt medium-sized game, use a rifle for defense, or enjoy long-range shooting and are limited by the Remington .223 cartridge. Most of us think it makes sense to jump straight to a .308 like the S&W M&P10 via the 6.8 or .300 Blackout.

The -6.8 as an example- replaces the 5.56mm, while those of us who use the .308 also have a good .223 Remington on hand. However, we like the handling of the AR-15 and at times we like the handling that is common between the .223 and the .308. (And a good .22 too!) A good quality AR-15 rifle chambered for the hard-hitting .308 Winchester round makes sense. The M&P10 is an excellent rifle chambered for the powerful .308 Winchester cartridge.

Handling was excellent, as you would expect from an AR-15 rifle. The flat-top receiver accepts any practical optics. The rifle is an AR-15 type with a forward assist, standard firing grip, and shares the same magazine and bolt action we know and love from the AR-15. I replaced the stock with one from Mission First Tactical. This is simply custom made for the shooter. The handguard is all AR-15.

Smith And Wesson Bodyguard 380 Review [2021]

The receiver, shock tube and telescoping stock are familiar to AR-15 shooters around the world. You can modify the rifle as you wish. I like it as posted, but if the cards are long range shooters you might want to add some nice visuals and a custom ending. Interestingly, this isn't actually a copy of the original AR-10, but a modified AR-15. For example, the back of the bolt is size AR-15, while the front of the carrier is size .308. It works well. There is an upgraded firing pin spring that can counter fires with the floating firing pin. Can't confirm, but looks good.

Impact burns are more common with undersized handloads or protruding primers. Never chamber a cartridge and then let the bolt slam shut. Always load from the magazine. The Smith & Wesson Military and Police 10 has other advantages over most other AR rifles. The Smith & Wesson has an ambidextrous safety. When I'm training, I don't think of one hand as right and the other as left. Instead, I shoot with my back hand on the grip and my front hand controlling the rifle. Right or left operation depends on obstacle and shot position.

The barrel isn't a heavy barrel, but it's adequate for the task. The barrel's twist rate is 1:10 inch, which has proven to be able to stabilize the fired charges with good accuracy. These loads included not only the 147-grain Winchester USA .308, but also the 150-grain Winchester JSP and the 180-grain Winchester. Accuracy was good to excellent with 2-2.5 inch groups at 100 yards with iron sights. Of course, the rifle will work better if the right optics are installed. There were no failures when feeding, chambering or ejecting with a variety of loads, including manuals. The rifle proved reliable with bullet weights from 147 to 180 grains, including handloads, using the Sierra MatchKing (SMK) in 168 and 175 grains.

When shooting and handling the rifle I can think of several advantages over other short .308 rifles. First, the rifle hits less than most bolt-action rifles. This is due to the gas powered action. The action absorbs and uses recoil energy. Second, the rifle's ergonomics are excellent for recoil control. The rifle is reliable. If you need the extra punch of the .308 in the AR-15 platform, this is a great rifle. If you hunt with a .308 bolt-action pistol and want to try the AR-15, this is a good place to start. The Smith & Wesson rifle is a good show of quality, accuracy and reliability.

Short, soft recoil and extra punch - what's not to love about the M&P10 .308? Share your impression or first hand experience with the Smith and Wesson M&P .308 in the comments section. At the 2013 SHOT Show, Smith and Wesson introduced their new line of 7.62mm/308 caliber rifles, featuring full ambidextrous control, compatibility with SR-25/M110 sample magazines, and an attractive price point. At approximately 7 3/4 pounds unloaded, the rifle (designated the M&P 10) is extremely light and portable. After a cursory examination at SHOT, I knew I had to get my hands dirty and try it myself.

After returning from SHOT, I called my good friend Chris Corino, who has been a huge supporter of 10-8 and law enforcement in general since his time with Kimber. Chris is one of the good guys in the business as he used to wear a blue uniform. It pointed me in the right direction and was instrumental in connecting me to a rifle that is in high demand, especially in this panic-buying climate.

So I picked up my new M&P 10 within a few days. My first thoughts to myself were, "Why did they do that with an 18" barrel instead of a 16"?" and "What about that ugly flash hider/compensator?" The trigger was quite acceptable for a working weapon. The gas block is chunky, ugly and just clamped but it looked like it was functional. Otherwise the gun aimed well and appeared to be well built.

Smith & Wesson obviously put some thought into this rifle. In addition to being fully ambidextrous (a plus for our misguided brethren), small details have been added that many owners will appreciate. Four elastomeric inserts fit into machined pockets in the upper receiver to absorb play and play between the pistol's upper and lower halves. The result is a solid fit. While this has little to do with accuracy in the real world, it is important for many AR owners.

Smith And Wesson M&p15: The Best Budget Ar?

The bolt group appeared to be of good quality, with solid studs in the gas valve. This is a step that some manufacturers skip, resulting in a less than reliable gun. The AR platform is heavily dependent on gas pressure, and any gas leak between the valve and the carrier will likely result in suboptimal operation.

I mentioned the ugly flash hider/compensator above and even the gunsmiths noticed it. While I probably should have left it to see if it actually stabilized the muzzle, my vain side won out and I immediately replaced it with an A2-style flash cage I had on hand. Note that I had to use some spacers in addition to the crush washer to allow it to index properly against the shoulder. The other change I made was replacing the clamshell style handguards with a MagPul MOE end. I ordered a black one, but there was a green one in the box. Nothing that 5 minutes of quality time with a can of Krylon can't fix.

A closer look also reveals a bolt on the right side of the weapon. The 18" barrel is longer than I would like, but that doesn't really affect the handling of the rifle.

Since the base model does not come with a sight, I fitted a set of Troy Industries front and rear sights to the gun. With that and a few drops of lube in the bolt carrier ports, I was ready for the reach.

Peugeot 308 Sw Estate Review (2014 2021)

Since the rifle came with a 20LR PMAG, I brought some spares with me. These lightweight, durable, and fairly inexpensive (compared to Knights Armament SR-25 factory mags) are my favorite mags for use on the range. The rifle fired German surplus 7.62 NATO ammunition and ran smoothly and reliably for 80 rounds. Recoil was a bit strong due to the rifle's light weight, but controllable enough to allow for fairly quick follow-up shots.

I could mark the rifle with iron sights. On the next trip I will take out a glass to test the accuracy. So far, Smith & Wesson's new M&P 10 looks like a serious contender, especially at its aggressive price point. The Smith & Wesson M&P10 is the new answer to versatility in the world of firearms. Based on the AR-10 platform, the M&P10 is the newer cousin of the M&P15, chambered in .308 and this time released in 2013. It's more powerful and better engineered to be more reliable than AR-10s like this, and that justifies it. this brand with every part of your brand. But you probably want to find out if it's right for you specifically; Read on for the details.

You can be assured that the M&P10 is accurate and stays accurate. Built with 5R rifling, this is the competition rifle barrel of choice and shares the same finish used by US Army M24 snipers. I've used a pretty good range of calibers on the M&P10,
